Grandmaster Lecture - Preparation for CYCC
Dates: Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 4:30pm PST for 1.5 hrs.

Details: This lecture will be presented by Team Canada Head Coach Grandmaster Gergely Szabo to those players who have newly qualified to play in the 2024 CYCC. It will provide insights on how to prepare for this prestigious youth tournament, as well as suggested types of training, book recommendations, etc. There will also be a Question & Answer session for the players and parents.

CFC Youth Coordinator Christina Tao will discuss the benefits of competing at the CYCC.

Chilliwack Chess Club 9th Annual Stan Rogers Memorial

Details: Bring your family and friends out to the 2024 Surrey Chess Festival on Saturday, May 11. This FUN event is hosted by Juniors to Masters Chess Academy and Vancity Chess. There will be a variety of chess activities for all to enjoy and take part in including:

• Tandem Master Simul: Test your play against Grandmaster Gergely Szaboi and FIDE Master Joshua Doknjas. (Pre-registration required)
  
• Blitz Tournament: 6 rounds of unrated blitz, 3 mins + 2 secs incr. (Pre-registration required).
  
• Casual play: There will be lots of opportunity to play some friendly games.
  
• Take selfie with BC Chess' version of the Stanley Cup, the BC Championship Trophy, along with Vancity Chess' unique perpetual championship chess trophies.
